Where Hari and Hara are one

Hari is Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the worlds. Hara is Lord Shiva, the auspicious one who removes all sorrow. The scriptures teach that the two are not separate — that the one Supreme Being is worshipped in both forms. The image of Harihara, half Vishnu and half Shiva, has expressed this truth in temples across India for more than a thousand years.

Hari Hara Kshetram carries this spirit. Here, Sri Venkateswara Swamy and Sri Bhramaramba Sametha Mallikarjuna Swamy are worshipped side by side, together with Sri Subramanya Swamy, Sri Anjaneya Swamy and the Navagrahas, so that every devotee may seek the blessings of all in one sacred place.

శివాయ విష్ణురూపాయ శివరూపాయ విష్ణవే ।
శివస్య హృదయం విష్ణుః విష్ణోశ్చ హృదయం శివః ॥

Salutations to Shiva in the form of Vishnu, and to Vishnu in the form of Shiva. Vishnu is the heart of Shiva, and Shiva is the heart of Vishnu. — Skanda Upanishad
